MERCY

I know I messed up, it’s enough to put me in the grave.

It’s not just a curse, it’s much worse, and now there’s nothing left to save.

I say my prayers but no one’s there, for God has turned His face.

I’m so sorry I turned out this way.

You can cut me down with just your words,

Put me in the ground after you crucify me,

Spit me out after you chew me up -

I’m worthless now. I know you hate me.

I know I made you cry with my lies, so you’ll never trust me.

And I’m aware that it’s fair; I’m why we’ll never have peace,

But can’t you see, I’m on my knees, screaming,

“Sorry that I messed up everything.”

You can cut me down with just your words,

Put me in the ground after you crucify me,

Spit me out after you chew me up -

I’m worthless now. I know you hate me.

You can’t stand the sight of my broken soul - it’s easier to look at these broken bones.

I know I don’t deserve it, but I’m begging please - can you give me any mercy?

You could talk me down and use your words,

Pick me up off the ground after they crucify me.

Don’t cast me out, though it’s what I deserve.

I’m worthless now, but can you give me mercy?
